Happy Valentine's Day!

This Valentine's Day I share with you the musings of a friend. I know you will enjoy this piece as much as I did!

Let It Be Love

Valentine's Day is the day that everyone, everywhere, celebrates Love. On this day we raise the bar on the standards for kindness and consideration. For our "significant other," any behavior that does not fit with the definition of love is simply unacceptable.

Many of us have problems defining Love. Hence the question of the ages continues to be, "What is Love?" And the answers continue to be many and varied. The answers that come are often debated, because language is simply incapable of providing an adequate definition for something as beautiful as love. Love, and its many aspects, is simply beyond words. Even though we cannot find the words to describe it, we all know what it feels like to love and be loved.

If language falls short of defining love, does that diminish its value? Hardly. To say that it is beyond definition is the greatest tribute to the most wonderful presence in the Universe. To define it limits it, and love is truly unlimited in its power, its beauty and its magnificence. Love is the force that drives the Universe, and is available to everyone. Love is such a magical thing, that the more you give away, the more you receive.

Some maintain that what cannot be defined does not exist. Perhaps then, we should let go of the notion of defining love and direct our energies toward experiencing it. Experience love first in your heart as recall the many ways that you have felt it. From the safety and care of your mother’s bosom, to the sacred trust between two dear friends, to the caress of a lover. As the feelings well up inside of you, extend love to others through kindness, caring and compassion. Do it with a smile, a compliment, or a dozen roses.

This Valentine's Day don't define love, let it define you. Let it radiate from the core of your being and brighten every corner, touch every heart, heal every wound. Let it be the spark that lights the fuse that ignites the torch that lights the way for all of humanity. Let it be. Let it be love.
